What are the types of hair fall?
Some types of hair fall are permanent whereas some are temporary. The most common types are as below:
- Androgenic Alopecia This is a type of hair loss which results due to hereditary baldness and affects both males as well as females. Hair loss caused by androgenic alopecia is usually gradual.
- Telogen Effluvium This is a type of hair loss that causes excess shedding of hair in a short time. If the body experiences something really stressful (physical or emotional shock), then after a few months, Telogen effluvium happens. It can also be a result of hormonal changes. It can also happen due to hormonal changes such as pregnancy, child birth and menopause. Some other causes include inefficient diet, starting or ending of birth control. This type resolves on its own once the cause is addressed.
- Alopecia Areata This is a type of autoimmune disease which results in hair loss from the body as well as the head. In most probability, it leads to total hair loss. Some persons with alopecia areata lose hair from the eyebrows, eyelashes, or other areas of the body in addition to the scalp.
- Anagen Effluvium Some medical therapies cause this rapid hair loss. This frequently occurs as a result of radiation or chemotherapy. When the treatment is over, the hair normally regrows.
